All it takes for disaster to strike in your home is one moment of forgetfulness. A mistake as simple as leaving your faucet on can cause water damage to your bathroom tile. Some types of tile are more susceptible to water exposure than others, which is why it is important to contact professionals who are experienced with the restoration of many different types of tile.

Restoring tile takes special care, and our technicians can perform an inspection of water damaged tile to determine the best course of action. Asphalt and vinyl tile is relatively easy to clean and may only require basic cleaning. However, in more extreme cases, these tiles can be loosened from the underlying sub flooring and may require drying before being reattached. SERVPRO techs can, additionally, use moisture meters to inspect your sub flooring to look for hidden floor damage that may be related to tile damage. If excess moisture is discovered in your sub flooring, we can deploy air movers and dehumidifiers to remove moisture. Unfortunately, tile may have to be removed in order for effective drying, and, in some cases, it may be cheaper to replace this tile than dry it.

If you instead have concrete or ceramic tile, then it is unlikely that you will need replacement tile. However, both of these types of tiles come with their own set of issues. Concrete tile is typically porous and easily flakes off paint making it susceptible to mold growth when exposed to water. Fortunately, we have disinfectants capable of dealing with mold should it appear in your bathroom. Ceramic tile, on the other hand, is normally unaffected by contact with water. However, water damage to the tile grouting and sub flooring can cause the tile to shift and warp, making a reinstallation of tile necessary.
