Why SERVPRO Uses Dry Ice for Mold Damage Repair in Naples Houses

Blasting Makes Mold Damage Repair Easier & Faster

Microbes like mold need to stay attached to whatever surface they feed on to survive. Once taken away from their food source, they quickly die. In addition to food, they also need an ongoing moisture supply in your Naples home. When mold flourishes, your house needs professional mold damage repair services.

SERVPRO technicians use a blasting technique that acts like sandblasting but with much less mess. We know you want to protect your home in Naples, and mold damage repair is an excellent way to accomplish that goal. Our blasting method uses tiny pellets made of dry ice instead of sand. Although the pellets sublimate into thin air, they still remove mold from durable surfaces, just as if we had used sand, and without using water.

There are other benefits to using dry ice pellets:

  • Nontoxic after evaporating,
  • Do not accumulate, and
  • Never require the additional step of disposal.

Once warmed to room temperature, dry ice becomes harmless carbon dioxide. This gas is the same as a large percentage of the gas people exhale with each breath they take.

Because dry ice pellets sublimate from a solid state into gaseous carbon dioxide, they never accumulate like sand does when using that as a medium.

And since dry ice pellets never accumulate, we never need to dispose of them. All we need to dispose of is the mold that the dry ice blasting removed.

Another benefit of dry ice blasting is that the freezing temperatures of the frozen pellets, although requiring us to wear protective gear, kill the mold on contact.

After removing the mold, we can begin the rest of our mold damage repair project. Removing stains from some areas versus repainting those surfaces is a choice we discuss with the property owner. Using dry ice pellets is a less destructive process on surfaces like painted drywall and finished furniture.

Suppose mold eats into untreated wood too deeply and causes weakness. In that case, we can use our contractor license, CBC1261730 (in conjunction with our mold remediation license, MRSR2994), to restore strength to your home’s framework.
